ISO 45001 related news catch up
ISO 45001 News from CEN and ISO working groups
ISO 45001 related news catch up: Dateline July 2023
Be prepared. Here are some news items which will have an impact on ISO 45001 series.
Firstly: CEN is considering whether to adopt ISO 45001. CEN is officially recognised as the standard body for the EU, EFTA and the UK. Thus it would be given “official” European status. Because some EU countries currently fail to support ISO 45001 this will be a significant step if they do so..
Secondly: An ISO task group (TC283 – TG8) is assessing the occupational health and safety risks associated with climate change. Because the risks could be increased workplace temperature, extremes of wind, rain and sun. So it follows these need to be considered in several 45001 clauses, not least in the risks and opportunities clause
Lastly: Another working group has been commissioned to consider how small enterprises/organisations relate to ISO 45001. Presumably to make it as accessible as possible. Because this is increasingly important as the larger organisations impose their ISO 45001 requirements on their supply chain.
